About Us
Silver Age Yoga is absolutely free to senior participants. We do not solicit and we do not accept money for our yoga teaching.
Silver Age Yoga Community Outreach was founded in September 2003 by yoga teachers Frank and Serpil Iszak. It was co-sponsored by Pacific Athletic Club, a San Diego sport resort.

By early 2004 the number of teachers participating in the program increased to 15, and a certification course was designed to provide those teachers with special skills needed to deal with the various challenges presented by the participating seniors.
A curriculum, combining geriatric sciences with yoga practices, was designed and a 30 hour workshop schedule was established as the foundation of the certification course. Several highly qualified scientists volunteered their time to lecture on senior-related health issues.
To date over one hundred specially trained yoga teachers are actively participating in the program. They provide weekly yoga classes at over twenty senior centers at no cost to the seniors. Our classes are attended by an average of 400 seniors. The diversity of these classes represents the cross-section of senior America. These senior sites include four centers for the blind and a gay/lesbian senior center.
Silver Age Yoga is in the process of developing a health improvement data monitoring program in these classes, utilizing the wide and varied senior database. This database is available to geriatric institutions for statistical analysis to promote the advancement of yoga as an aspect of preventive healthcare.
