February invites us into the heart.
In yoga, the heart center – Anāhata – is the seat of love, compassion, connection, and balance. As Valentine’s Day approaches, we are reminded that love is not only romantic; it is relational, communal, and devotional. At Silver Age Yoga, this season calls us to reflect on how we practice love through service – Sevā – and how we care for the elders who carried us, taught us, and shaped our communities.
What Is Silver Age Yoga?
Silver Age Yoga is a research – based, accessible yoga practice created specifically for older adults. Rooted in yogic philosophy and informed by modern science, our classes emphasize gentle, functional movement, conscious breathing (pranayama), balance, and nervous system regulation.
More than exercise, Silver Age Yoga is a practice of presence. Each class supports seniors in maintaining independence, confidence, and dignity while fostering meaningful social connections. In yogic terms, we cultivate sthira sukham asanam – a balance of steadiness and ease – in both body and daily life.
Why Sponsor a Senior?
Yoga teaches us that we are deeply interconnected. Through karma yoga – the yoga of selfless service – we learn that caring for others is a path of awakening itself.
The Sponsor a Senior Program is a direct expression of this philosophy. When you sponsor a class, you are not simply funding movement – you are creating access. Access to weekly care. Access to the community. Access to being seen and valued.
For many seniors, these classes are the one place each week where they move safely, breathe deeply, and feel connected to others. Your support helps reduce isolation, improve physical health, and nourish emotional well-being.
Sponsor a Senior Today
1 Month – $25
Provides 4 classes
6 Months – $150
Provides 26 classes
12 Months – $300
Provides 52 classes (one full year)
For those who can give, these are pennies per day.
For a senior, it is dignity, health, and belonging.
This is love made visible. This is yoga beyond the mat.
The Season of the Heart
Valentine’s Day reminds us that love is something we practice every day. It isn’t just something we hope to receive – it’s something we actively offer. By sponsoring a senior, you help prevent harm through gentle, preventative movement, honor the realities of aging with honesty and respect, and take part in compassionate service that directly supports the well-being of older adults.
Together, we are creating a culture where aging is met not with isolation, but with movement, respect, and connection.
Full Moon Sound Bath Fundraising Series
In yogic and Ayurvedic traditions, the full moon represents illumination, reflection, and emotional awareness – qualities closely connected to the heart and nervous system. We are honored to announce our Full Moon Sound Bath Fundraising Series, hosted at Scripps Performing Arts Academy 3880 Valley Centre Dr. #201, San Diego, CA 92130.
These gentle, immersive experiences use resonant instruments such as singing bowls and chimes to create soothing vibrations that support deep relaxation, nervous system regulation, and emotional balance. They are especially supportive for seniors and caregivers alike.

With Gratitude
Thank you for being part of the Silver Age Yoga community. Whether you sponsor a senior, attend an event, share our mission, or simply hold our elders in your heart, you are part of this circle of care.
Together, we practice yoga not only through movement, but through love in action.
